Minutes of Meeting
A special meeting of the Facilities Committee of the Rocky Hill Board of Education was held on Thursday, November 16, 2006, in the superintendent's conference room. Present were: Committee Chair Peter Arico; Committee Members Nadine Bell and Rene Rivard; Director, Board Chairman Neil Geldof; Board Members Mark Carberry, and Anne Schmidt; Finance & Operations Gregory P. Turansky; and Supt. of Schools J. A. Camille Vautour. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
Schoenhardt Report
Discussion began on the formal recommendation that the Facilities Committee would ask the Board to act on. Dr. Vautour indicated that a need existed to clarify the respective roles of the Board v. Council relative to building projects. He indicated that he and Town Manager Gilbert would be conferring with Bond Council to clarify the rules. The Committee decided to table action on recommending a specific scenario until the legal questions were clarified.
Portable Classrooms
Dr. Vautour indicated a need for a portable science lab at the high school and that there may be need for one or more elementary portables. He indicated Mr. Turansky will be clarifying process with Mr. Mehr.
Lockdown Drills
Dr. Vautour briefly reviewed the results on recent lockdown drills. Mr. Cooke will be addressing a number of issues including additional phone line, locks, and panic buttons.
The meeting adjourned 6:45 p.m.
