Minutes of Meeting

A special meeting of the Finance Committee of the Rocky Hill Board of Education was held on Thursday, September 7, 2006, in the superintendent's conference room. Present were: Committee Chair Anne Schmidt; Committee Members Peter Arico and Rene Rivard; Board Chair, Neil Geldof; Board Secretary Nadine Bell; Supt. of Schools J. A. Camille Vautour; and Director of Finance & Operations Gregory P. Turansky. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.

2005-06 Budget

Mr. Turansky indicated that at the end of the 2005-06 fiscal year, a sum of $23,546.83 was left unspent in the Board’s budget. By leaving the money unspent, these funds automatically reverted to the Town’s General Fund and were not earmarked for any particular use. Mr. Turansky then highlighted the major account variances that netted out to the overall surplus.

2006-07 Budget

Mr. Turansky indicated that although it is still very early in the 2006-07 fiscal year, two items worth noting were summer hiring of replacement staff which appears to be coming in under budget, and the prior year’s health insurance account which should allow for a current year premium holiday.
