Minutes of Meeting

 

 

A special meeting of the Curriculum Committee of the Rocky Hill Board of Education was held on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in training room.  Present were:  Cathy Vargas, Anne Schmidt, Nadine Bell, various department members, Assistant Superintendent Laura Boutilier, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. J. A. Camille Vautour.  The meeting was called to order at 2:30 p.m.

 

New Textbooks

Mrs. Boutilier shared the process for selection of textbooks.  Subject Area Supervisors shared their specific choice of texts and the rationale for each choice.  The selections are as follows: Digital Design, “Art Talk”; Business Law, “Law for Business & Personal Use”; To Be Human, “On the Road”; Independent Living, “The Confident Consumer”; Algebra I, “Concepts & Skills”; AP/UCONN Biology, “Biology” 7th Edition; CT River Source to Sound, “Connecticut Wildlife”; Physics, “Physics” 2nd Edition; Earth Science – on hold; Civics, “American Government”; World Cultures II, “World History, Traditions and New Directions”; US History, “Liberty, Equality, Power” 4th Edition; Grades K-5, “Health Promotion Wave”; Grade 3, and “Math Trailblazers”.

 

Following the textbook selection, Mrs. Boutilier shared proposals developed by the Time Utilization Committee.  Valuable feedback was given by Board of Education members.  It was decided that this topic would be discussed at the Board Retreat.

 

The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
