Minutes of Meeting

A special meeting of the Curriculum Committee of the Rocky Hill Board of Education was held on Thursday, March 17, 2005, in the superintendent’s conference room. Present were: Cathy Vargas, Charles McMonigle, Anne Schmidt, Nadine Bell, Assistant Superintendent Laura Boutilier, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. J. A. Camille Vautour. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.

Elementary Reading Reorganization

Discussion was held on reconfiguration from all reading instruction positions to consultation and instruction positions. There is a need to foster greater consistency and to assess TLC/Reading in Unison.

Elementary Report Card

The elementary report cards needs to be revised to reflect standards-based reporting and to provide greater consistency.

Time Committee

Information was shared concerning the work of the Time Utilization Committee. Specific proposals are to be presented to the full Board this spring.

Textbooks

The committee agreed to hold on the purchase of honors level earth science books pending finalization of the new State standards for science.

The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
