Minutes of Meeting

A special meeting of the Rocky Hill Board of Education was held on Friday, May 28, 2004, in the superintendent's conference room. Present were: Nadine Bell, Charles McMonigle, Anne Schmidt, Francis Palazzolo, Peter Arico, J. Kirk Bostwick, Neil Geldof, Catherine Vargas, Jennifer Viggiano-Grosse, Director of Finance & Operations Gregory P. Turansky, Asst. Superintendent, Laura Boutilier, Principals Robert Pitocco, Cori Marino, Richard Watson, and Louis Pear, Assistant Principals Donna Hayward and John Colonghi, and Supt. of Schools J. A. Camille Vautour. The meeting was called to order at 8:15 a.m.

The focus of this meeting was a review of progress made this year and the brainstorming of issues that would require future Board attention.

Dr. Vautour pointed out that a critical issue the Board would have to address is the fact that the potential exists for the retirement of half the district’s administrators in the next 3-5 years. The Board requested the superintendent to propose a transition plan to insure continuity of leadership as veterans exit.

With respect to other items listed for consideration in the future Dr. Vautour was asked to summarize the information and create a process for rating items as to relative importance.

The meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
